Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Full-Time Retail Clerk to join our team at a local butcher store. As a Retail Clerk, you will play a key role in assisting customers, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with customers, have a passion for locally raised meat, and are looking for a full-time opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products.
• Provide knowledgeable answers to questions regarding cuts of meat, cooking methods, and meal preparation.
• Offer suggestions and recommendations based on customer preferences.

Sales and Transactions:

• Operate cash register and handle transactions accurately.
• Package and weigh meat products for customers according to their specifications.
• Upsell additional products or specials as appropriate.

Stocking and Merchandising:

• Receive and stock inventory, ensuring shelves and displays are neatly organized.
• Rotate products to maintain freshness and appeal.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs to management.

Store Maintenance:

• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the store, including counters, display cases, and customer areas.
• Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures at all times.
• Assist in maintaining equipment such as scales, knives, and refrigeration units.

Team Collaboration:

• Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve store goals.
• Communicate effectively with management regarding customer feedback, operational issues, and ideas for improvement.
• Support colleagues during busy periods or as needed.

Requirements:

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge or interest in meat products and cuts is a plus.
• Passion for locally raised meat and understanding of its benefits.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Starting pay is $12 an hour.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy weights (up to 50 pounds) occasionally.
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Handle sharp knives and operate equipment safely.
