Title: Safety Specialist

Location:Flowood, MS 39232, 7:30am-5pm

Duration: PERM

Salary: $75-$80k

Must Haves:

• 2-6 years of experience in safety
• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
• Proven ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft and excel)
• Vehicle incident reviews

Pluses:

• Safety certification – ASP, CSP, or OHST
• OSHA Certified

Day to Day:

We are seeking a Safety Specialist to join our team. Listed below are some of the responsibilities you will have.

• Conducts injury and vehicle incident reviews to determine root cause and necessary corrective action required to eliminate future incidents.
• Provides guidance and direction for division employees and contractors to encourage workplace safety.
• Observes safety practices and conditions in field locations and recommends corrections or additional precautions to help protect employees from potentially unsafe work methods and to ensure compliance.
• Assists in the development of and conducts safety training programs. Demonstrates the use of safety equipment and facilitates numerous tests; i.e. respirator fit, hearing loss, forklift and excavation.
• Participates in monthly safety team meetings and provides leadership training to safety team leaders to improve the effectiveness of the company's occupational safety and health efforts.
• Maintains accurate safety related records for reporting purposes.
