Job DutiesTeach courses assigned by Administrative Dean and Academic Coordinator. Teaching load will vary and can include regular and non-traditional classes/assignments, including classes during the day, evenings, weekends, and online. Classes shall be met when scheduled and for entire period of time scheduled.Work with the school chair, as directed, on annual goals and objectives, strategic initiatives, standards and measures, student learning outcomes (SLO), etc.Work closely with the school chair in the continued evaluation and improvement of subject curricula. Update syllabi annually.Maintain a familiarity with Learning Lab services available to students and make recommendations for Learning Lab improvements via the school chair.Strive to better understand students' learning styles and work to improve teaching methods, content, and value of each course taught.Provide students with course objectives and course outlines that have been approved by the department chair and the Dean.Use diverse instructional methodology including audio-visual, computer software, and other technological means.Mandatory Qualifications(M1) Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in subject matter.(M2) Ability to teach college-level subject matter courses.(M3) Effective written and interpersonal communications skills.(M4) Proficient user of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), Microsoft Office Suite, and other educational technologies.Desirable Qualifications(D1) Experience in teaching subject at the college level.(D2) Masters or Doctorate in subject matter from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.(D3) Online teaching experience.EEO StatementMississippi Gulf Coast Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes students and employees without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, or qualified disability in its programs and activities.
