DescriptionSummaryUnder direction of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Technician Level 1 performs work of moderate difficulty in coordinating Coastal Family Health Center maintenance activities. This position provides services and maintenance assuring the safe and efficient operation of all assigned equipment utilized for the performance of required duties. On many occasions, the Facilities Technician Level 1 will work independently with supervision and will also be responsible for assisting in the determination of the actual needs for material and equipment, in order to inquire about information as to availability, prices and delivery. The individual will be required to make daily inspections at various Coastal Family Health Center sites. This position requires having an expansive knowledge of the services and repairs of all facilities equipment located at Coastal Family Health Center. An employee in this position must have good working knowledge of building structures and ancillary equipment. Exterior facility maintenance such as pressure washing of buildings and parking lots will require working on Saturdays and Sundays. This position will be responsible for completing all work assignments taking appropriate corrective action and response in all immediate emergencies requiring skilled maintenance repairs. This position reports directly to the Facilities Director.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability and understanding of various Federal, State and County codes and regulations involving construction, installation, fire, safety and sanitation. Ability to set priorities and make appropriate decisions on repairs or assignments contingent upon availability of parts manpower. Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions. Ability to assist in the development of long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments. Ability to be physically active from light to medium type of work. Ability to be subjected to various environmental conditions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Must be able to sit, squat, reach, bend and have use of both arms and legs. Must occasionally kneel, twist, have the ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 30 lbs.Qualifications/Education RequirementsMinimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an Associates Degree in engineering is preferred, but may be substituted by progressive equivalent job experience. Minimum experience should be at least 3 to 5 years of experience in the operation of a commercial or institutional facility. Experience should include a well-rounded background and vast knowledge of heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems, including equipment maintenance and repairs.Core Competencies Participates in the planning, designing, construction and maintenance of facilities. Reviews work for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc. Adheres to appropriate safety and/or service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc. Ensures diverse interests, directions and policies are represented and consistent. Assists in the monitoring of operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement. Ensures that all maintenance service and repairs pertaining to building and related equipment are completed in a timely manner. Responds as needed to all emergencies and ensures responsible back-up is available in order to take corrective action as necessary. Assists in the maintenance and general procurement of materials and parts, schedules installations and oversees that such repairs are accomplished in a safe and timely manner. Assists in the implements preventative maintenance programs for utility systems, equipment and building maintenance. Adheres to safety regulations and programs. Maintains accurate records with regard to annual inspection of equipment and general preventative maintenance including rotational work assignment. Is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of maintenance department. Performs other duties as required. Upholds, complies with, and enforces the Core Principles and Code of Conduct.
