What Happens in Donations Anyway?

• Receive donations from donors
• Track and weigh donations that we collect - we gotta know so we can give back!•
• Lift up to 50 lbs.•
• Share information about our charity partners and our mission with our donors and customers•
• Work in the heat, the cold and in wet weather conditions•
• Work safely and efficiently in loading and unloading trailers and donation boxes
• Help to sustain and maintain donation trailer site and donation boxes for donation collections

America's Thrift Stores is recruiting Driver Helpers for our donation collections program. Our search is focused on people with great customer service skills and a passion for helping people. This position provides a unique opportunity for those looking to combine their passion for business with a chance to give back to their communities.

Primary Job Duties

• Assists the Driver in picking up donations from donation box sites and donor homes
• Provides outstanding customer service to all donors and customers
• Assists Driver in navigation of the truck during route and pick-up operations
• Communicates an awareness of our mission and goals to our donors and customers
• Maintains relationships with donors and the general public
• Helps sustain and maintain donation box sites and routes for donation collections
• Assists Driver in the future development of routes, donation box and trailer site placements
• Maintains clean and orderly donation sites and routes based on company operational standards
• Assists Driver in accurate record keeping and tracking of routes and donation pick-ups
• Partners with Driver to safely and efficiently load and unload trucks and trailers
• Possesses the ability to regularly work in the heat, the cold and in wet weather conditions
• Other duties as may be assigned by management

Skills & Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Applicant must pass background check and drug screen
• Strong customer service skills
• Must work well with others
• Must be able to lift, carry and/or push/pull up to 50 pounds regularly
• Capable of bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs and in and out of a truck frequently
• Able to accurately keep records and communicate donations progress
• Demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle multiple activities at one time
• Experience working in a community outreach program or organization is a plus
• High School Degree, GED or equivalent work experience preferred
