Position Overview
The Integrated Master Scheduler (IMS) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing project schedules using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Project Server to support management activities. This role ensures project timelines, resources, dependencies, and critical paths are accurately tracked and reported to stakeholders, ensuring the successful execution of project objectives.
Essential Job Functions
1. Schedule Development & Management:
- Create, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Project Server.
- Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to organize project deliverables.
- Establish and track task dependencies, milestones, and critical paths.
- Ensure schedules align with project scope, budget, and resource availability.
2. Project Coordination & Reporting:
- Collaborate with program managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to update project timelines.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and recommend schedule adjustments.
- Generate Gantt charts, resource histograms, and schedule performance reports.
- Prepare weekly/monthly project status reports for leadership.
3. Risk & Change Management:
- Identify potential schedule risks and provide mitigation strategies.
- Adjust schedules to reflect scope changes, resource reallocation, and unforeseen delays.
- Ensure proper documentation and tracking of schedule modifications.
4. Resource & Capacity Planning:
- Track and allocate resources efficiently within MS Project.
- Work with department leads to resolve resource conflicts and bottlenecks.
- Provide insight into workforce capacity and project workload distribution.
5. Compliance & Best Practices:
- Ensure scheduling practices align with industry best practices (PMBOK, Agile, EVM, etc.).
- Maintain compliance with contractual or regulatory scheduling requirements (if applicable).
- Support project teams in adopting and utilizing Microsoft Project effectively.
Qualifications & Skills: Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project (MS Project Server and MS Project Pro).
- Experience developing and managing complex project schedules.
- Understanding of project management principles and metrics to help derive KPI's.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for risk and impact assessment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM), Integrated Master Scheduling (IMS), and Critical Path Method (CPM) techniques.
- Knowledge of resource leveling, baselining, and variance analysis.
- Familiarity with scheduling in government contracting, IT, manufacturing, or construction environments.
- Certification in PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional), PMP, or Primavera P6 (a plus).
Essential Physical Requirement: Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighting up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required.
