Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist (EHS)
Location: Beaumont, Mississippi
Department: Safety and Environmental

Overview:
A leading wood products manufacturer is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support its operations in Beaumont, MS. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across a facility of approximately 250 employees. The EHS Specialist will assist in implementing safety programs, conducting training, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of health, safety, and environmental initiatives under the guidance of the Safety Manager.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update safety procedures in alignment with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver safety orientation and ongoing training programs focused on incident prevention, emergency response, and workplace safety.
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to the site's safety committee.
  • Lead and support investigations into workplace incidents, including injuries, near misses, and property damage, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Manage contractor safety orientation and ensure compliance with site safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and environmental activities.
  • Assist in managing work-related injuries and illnesses, including reporting and follow-up.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall safety and environmental goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance areas such as air quality, stormwater management, and spill prevention is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
