This role bridges the gap between researchers and the public, enhancingthe visibility and impact of the institution's scientific contributions.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesScience Writing & Content Creation: Translate complex research into accessible press releases, articles, and web content; interview faculty, staff and students to capture stories; ensure scientific accuracy and brand consistency. Multimedia Collaboration: Partner with graphic designers and videographers to produce visually compelling content such as infographics, videos, and social media visuals.Social Media Management: Oversee multiple social media platforms, develop and implement content calendars, and track analytics to highlight research and boost engagement.Event Planning & Outreach: Organize and promote public engagement events related to research, collaborating with faculty and partners; create marketing assets for outreach efforts.Strategic Communication: Coordinate with communications and external relations teams to align messaging; support media relations and stay current with best practices in science communication.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in sciencecommunication, journalism, public relations, biology, environmental science orrelated field and 2-4years of experience in communications.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to craft clear, compelling, and accurate narratives, effectively translating complex information for diverse, non-technical audiences through expert writing and editing.Proficient in leveraging social media platforms and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Hootsuite, Canva) to optimize engagement and reach.Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities, execute projects efficiently, and maintain meticulous attention to detail from conception to completion.Possesses the initiative and adaptability to excel both autonomously and as an integral member of a dynamic team.Committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and maintaining strict confidentiality in all sensitive matters.Highly skilled in utilizing modern computer applications, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, email platforms, and internet navigation.Exhibits strong interpersonal communication skills, coupled with the ability to synthesize complex information and articulate concise, impactful insights.Consistently delivers high-quality work under pressure and within established deadlines.Deep understanding and application of AP writing style, ensuring consistent and professional written communication.Adept at producing a wide range of professional documents, including speeches, letters, reports, and articles, in accordance with prescribed styles and formats.Confidently delivers impactful presentations to all audiences, from executive leadership to public groups.Solid grasp of current digital marketing tactics and their application in achieving communication objectives.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in higher educationcommunications. Familiarity withacademic research environments and scientific publishing.
