Job Details

The Credit Balance/ Refund Specialist performs all duties relating to resolving credit balances on patient accounts and unapplied cash postings in an efficient and timely manner. Maintains an update of all government regulations regarding government accounts with credit balances, performing adjustment functions and/or refunds whenever appropriate. Prepares a quarterly report to Medicare of all outstanding Medicare account credit balances that appear to be due back to Medicare. The Credit Balance/ Refund Specialist is responsible for the proficiency of processing all credit balance account adjustments, refunds and reports. Must have the ability to understand patient accounting, government patient account covered/non-covered charges, secondary/tertiary coverage and the regulations regarding government account adjustments and refunds.
