Princeton University's Program on Science and Global Security (SGS), based in the School of Public and International Affairs, is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to advance work on nuclear arms control, disarmament, nonproliferation, verification, and global security challenges related to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and space-based systems, including large satellite constellations. A recent PhD in physics, engineering, computer science, or other relevant fields and strong interest in technical and policy research to advance national and international policies for a safer and more peaceful world are required.
The benefits-eligible postdoctoral appointment is for a twelve-month term, starting around September 2025 or a later date in 2025 or early 2026, with the possibility of renewal for another 12 months, contingent on satisfactory performance and funding. Salary will be determined on the basis of experience and accomplishments. Postdoctoral researchers with SGS are expected to be active participants in one or more collaborative projects, mentor graduate students, participate in the SGS seminar series and other program activities, and assist with relevant undergraduate or graduate courses. Program faculty and senior researchers will offer mentoring to support professional development. Expected Salary Range: $65,000 - $72,000
The University considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, work experience, education/training, key skills, market, bargaining agreements as applicable, and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The posted salary range is a good faith estimate for a full-time position; salaries for part-time positions are pro-rated accordingly.
