Codaray Construction is seeking a skilled Lead Construction Estimator to take charge of our bidding processes and continue our legacy of excellence. In this vital role, you will lead our estimation team, applying your extensive industry expertise to shape bidding strategies, cultivate vendor relationships, and ensure a seamless transition of successful bids to project management.

This position can be based in our Ridgeland, MS or Hattiesburg, MS office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analyses of construction documents.
  • Quickly understand project requirements with minimal information.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, systems, market dynamics, and trade practices.
  • Oversee the bidding processes for assigned projects.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
  • Develop and implement effective bidding strategies.
  • Review construction documents and coordinate work scopes during the bidding phase.
  • Communicate and collaborate with project owners and design teams regarding progress.
  • Build and sustain strong vendor partnerships.
  • Generate interest and solicit competitive bids from vendors.
  • Assess project bids and manage the bidding evaluation process.
  • Lead and coordinate estimating team members.
  • Maintain estimating databases for material pricing and subcontractors.
  • Train and develop junior estimators.
  • Conduct material and labor take-offs.
  • Prepare detailed cost analyses and bid tabulations.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition of awarded projects to project management.
  • Exhibit exceptional leadership capabilities.
  • Approach projects with creativity and innovation.
  • Represent Codaray Construction in a professional manner at all times.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in hard bid, design-build, and negotiated commercial construction estimating.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer.
  • Travel to meetings and job sites.
  • Climb stairs and ladders during site visits.
  • Ability to see clearly (with or without correction), climb, talk, hear (with or without aid), and perform typing/computer data entry tasks.
Driver License Required:
  • A current valid driver's license is necessary. A favorable driving record is required for company vehicle use or an auto allowance.
