07/25/2025Job Summary: Provides communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing by interpreting classroom instruction, school activities, and other educational services. This role ensures students can fully participate in the academic environment, fostering an inclusive educational experience.

Days: 187

Qualifications:

• Must have completed at least two (2) years of study (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; or
• Obtained an associates degree (or higher); or
• Passed ACT WorkKeys
• Must be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Must be licensed as an Educational Interpreter through the Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH); or
• Hold provisional registration through the Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing

• Functional daily attendance
• Provide real-time interpretations of classroom lectures, discussions, and activities using American Sign Language or other appropriate modes of communication
• Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel to adapt instructional materials and methods to meet the communication needs of students.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to discuss student progress and required accommodations.
• Adhere to the Mississippi Interpreter Registration Law and maintain required certifications.
• Follow ethical guidelines and professional standards as set by relevant accrediting bodies.
