The Phlebotomist/ Medical Assistant performs venipunctures and collects other specimens for clinical laboratory testing, and may be required to function as a laboratory courier. Most importantly, the Phlebotomist/ Medical Assistant must ensure that appropriate specimens are collected from the proper patients, as well as work effectively with a variety of patients, including but not limited to, critically ill, trauma, newborn, geriatric and outpatients in numerous settings. The position requires substantial accuracy in patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, preservation, transportation and pre-test processing.
