Life Science Research Professional 1 Xiao Lab (Onsite Work Agreement) reports to the Principal Investigator in a newly-established group at Stanford. The lab focuses on chemical systems biology, combining mass spectrometry-based strategies with data science to understand metabolic regulation of protein function in health and disease, with the aim of translational therapeutics for aging, metabolic disease, and cancer. The role involves performing experiments and data analysis, contributing to publications, and supporting activities in the lab. The candidate will work on molecular biology experiments, genetic and pharmacological interventions in cells, and functional assays, with opportunities to perform animal experiments, proteomics, metabolomics, and computational analyses that interface with ongoing biology efforts. The position emphasizes collaboration, organization, communication, initiative, and flexibility. The candidate should be aligned with the goals, mission, and priorities of the Institute.
The desired candidate should have expertise in the following areas:
Experience in basic cellular and molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to, PCR, protein/DNA/RNA extraction and gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, imaging, cloning, gene-editing (such as CRISPR), small and large scale plasmid purification, sequencing, transfection by electroporation, transduction of viral supernatants into cell lines, and using standard software (such as Image J, BioRad, SnapGene, etc) to facilitate biological experiments.
Experience in these following areas below is a big plus:
Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.

The expected pay range for this position in the Stanford Work Location is $32.58 to $38.48 per hour.
