The Floor Care Specialist is responsible for performing comprehensive floor maintenance throughout the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and infection control standards, and the ability to operate a variety of floor care equipment efficiently and safely.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform all types of floor care and maintenance, including cleaning, stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet care across all facility areas.
Follow all organizational safety, risk management, and infection prevention standards while promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Clean, inspect, and perform routine maintenance on all floor care equipment; request assistance from Plant Operations or Maintenance when necessary.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date floor care logs, checklists, and maintenance records.
Operate all equipment safely and in accordance with facility and manufacturer procedures.
Properly collect, segregate, and transport waste to designated disposal areas, ensuring compliance with waste stream regulations (e.g., regulated medical, recycling, solid, and hazardous waste).
Adhere to all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning procedures, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
Demonstrated knowledge and experience using power equipment such as high-speed and conventional floor machines, carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums, and sweepers.
Basic computer and mobile device skills for documentation and communication.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage openly and effectively with team members.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to operate and maintain necessary cleaning and floor care equipment.
Must successfully pass a federal fingerprint background check.
Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug screening.
