job summary:
An energy technology company is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer. Remote work. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4 to 8 years of experience to design and analyze gas turbine hot gas path and rotor components using ANSYS and NX while optimizing for manufacturability and cost. This is a 12 months contract position.

responsibilities:
- Design and analyze Hot Gas Path and Rotor components for Heavy Duty and Aeroderivative gas turbine engines.
- Utilize ANSYS for structural and mechanical analysis of turbine blades, nozzles, and shrouds.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Heat Transfer, Manufacturing, and Sourcing.
- Optimize hardware designs for cost, variation, and manufacturability (DFM).
- Ensure all designs meet Product and Design Practice Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements.
- Execute technical evaluations following New Product Introduction (NPI) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes.
- Participate in and present design outputs at formal and informal technical reviews with Controlled Title Holders.
- Work with Global Supply Chain teams to ensure component sub-system optimization.
- Apply sound engineering principles to evaluate assigned hardware and meet program requirements.
- Prior experience designing and analyzing turbine blades, nozzles, and shrouds and/or rotors using ANSYS.
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably NX.
- Basic understanding of Engineering principles and the ability to utilize these skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering / Science from an accredited college or university.
- 4 to 8 years of Engineering analysis experience.
