Position Summary:
The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food and beverages from the kitchen to customers in a timely and professional manner. This role involves ensuring that orders are correctly prepared, presented, and served to customers. Food Runners also work closely with kitchen staff and front-of-house servers to ensure smooth communication and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Delivery and Presentation: • Transport food and beverages from the kitchen to the dining area quickly and efficiently. • Ensure that all dishes are presented according to restaurant standards. • Verify that orders are complete and accurate before delivering to the customer. • Serve food and drinks to customers with attention to detail and excellent presentation.
- Customer Service: • Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner while delivering food. • Ensure that customers have everything they need, such as condiments or utensils. • Address customer requests or inquiries, ensuring a positive dining experience. • Inform servers or management of any customer feedback or issues with food delivery.
- Collaboration with Kitchen and Waitstaff: • Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure that orders are prepared according to customer specifications. • Work closely with servers to ensure timely delivery of orders and assist in clearing tables when needed. • Help coordinate the flow of food from the kitchen to the dining area to minimize wait times.
- Order Verification: • Double-check orders before leaving the kitchen to ensure accuracy (e.g., correct items, special requests, dietary restrictions). • Communicate with kitchen staff regarding any special requests or modifications to orders.
- Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization: • Ensure that food delivery areas and service stations are clean and organized. • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the dining area by removing empty plates and glasses. • Keep the kitchen and dining areas stocked with necessary supplies (e.g., utensils, napkins).
- Food Safety and Hygiene: • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards while handling and delivering food. • Ensure that food is served at the correct temperature and in appropriate containers. • Report any potential food safety concerns to management or kitchen staff.
- Assisting with Special Events or Promotions: • Assist in delivering food for special events or promotions, ensuring efficient service in high-volume settings. • Work with management to ensure that large orders or events run smoothly and on time.
Qualifications: Education: • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Food Safety and Sanitation certification may be required in some regions.
Experience: • Previous experience in a food service or hospitality role (preferred).
• Experience in a fast-paced restaurant or dining environment.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
Skills: • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring orders are delivered accurately and promptly.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-volume situations.

Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly between the kitchen and dining areas.
• Ability to carry trays, food, and beverages weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy, and sometimes crowded environment.
Work Environment: • This position works both indoor and outdoor.
• Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the establishment's hours of operation.
• The position may involve working in a high-energy and sometimes stressful environment, especially during peak service hours.
