Summary/Objective:
The Maintenance Repairmen is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance of the equipment operated by the company. This may include equipment owned or leased by the company and/or equipment owned or leased by third parties.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Performs preventive maintenance procedures on company mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis
* Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
* Assists and performs with installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades, such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, carpet, and mechanics
* Performs warehouse and/or terminal duties in connection with receiving, storage and distribution of materials as follows: Receives goods and materials and checks them against purchase orders and delivery documentation to ensure correctness of merchandise and proper condition
* Responsible for maintaining clean and orderly conditions within the warehouse and/or terminal
* Perform general grounds keeping on a daily basis; insure disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition
* May perform weekly safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for the patrons of the facility and to eliminate all hazards
* Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
* Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
* May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
* Provide input to the company regarding specifications of the operational equipment.
* Evaluate maintenance programs to ensure they are accomplishing the intended objectives.
* Constantly evaluate new technology as it is applied to equipment utilized by the company.
* All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* High School diploma or equivalent required
* 2-4 years' experience working in maintenance
* Journeyman's License as a Millwright preferred
* Valid CPR certificate required
* Must have valid DL
* Experience with computerized operating systems
* Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations
* Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired
* Required to observe all safety and health requirements for container terminal environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Work environment:
* Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings and nights.
* Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise.
* The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment
* The ability to operate various types of equipment.
