About the Facility - Keesler AFB Medical Center
The Keesler Medical Center serves over 56,000 beneficiaries within a 40-mile catchment area. About 35,000 outpatients are seen in the clinics each month including 800-1,000 patients from other medical facilities throughout the southeastern United States through the Aeromedical Evacuation System. Equipped with 100 operating inpatient beds (10 ICU) and a staff of more than 2,100 people, the center represents a major concentration of professional capability. The Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center in Biloxi has been named the best hospital in the Air Force. Clinical Psychologist (BHOP) - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• Perform assigned assessment procedures under the direct supervision of a credentialed privileged psychologist or neuropsychologist.
• The Psychologist (BHOP) will utilize therapeutic assessment and interview skills to elicit an accurate and concise account of the patient's condition.
• Screen patients to determine presenting problems and the priority of the appointment. Perform basic assessment procedures, including initial screening evaluation and standardized neuropsychological testing. Assist credentialed providers with identifying mental health diagnoses and treatment strategies, as well as providing patient education.
• The Clinical Psychologist will assist in providing specialized treatment and rehabilitation of brain-injured and mental health patients. Observe, monitor, report, and record patient interaction during assessment sessions.
• Institute precautionary measures to prevent patient injuries due to suicide, homicide, or elopement.
• Coordinate with other military agencies and MTFs regarding specialized care, treatment, and administrative functions. Contact military or community agencies to obtain collateral information.
• Explain and interpret neuropsychological services and procedures to access care to patients and commands. Assist in or arrange for patient referral to other facilities for alternate levels of care.
• Psychologist will provide evidence-based brief interventions (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, etc.) for medical conditions with underlying behavioral concerns, psychological conditions, and other health-related behaviors.

BHOP Psychologist - REQUIREMENTS

• Degree: Must have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
• Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association-accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
• Internship/Residency: Successful completion of a predoctoral internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Program.
• Experience: Minimum of two years (24 months) experience within the last 36 months in performing evidence-based clinical treatment in an outpatient clinic or hospital.
• Board certification: Shall have a national and/or state (required) approved and current board certification or board eligible certification in the specialty area in which they provide clinical services.
• Certification: Must have Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or the client.
