Metro provides temperature-sensitive storage, warehousing and rapid distribution services for perishable foods, pharmaceutical products and medical devices and supplies. Metro manages highly regulated, temperature controlled, and cGMP compliant warehouse space.

About the role

The inventory Associate is responsible for processing, verifying, and inventorying product received and product shipped and for completing related computer entries and documentation. The Inventory Associate is also responsible for collaborating with the operations and quality teams and for communicating with customers. Occasional out-of-town travel is required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the effective and timely completion of receiving and inventory functions.

  • Process product received.
  • Check and verify product on blind count sheet for NDC, Lot Numbers, Expiration Dates, and Quantities against Pack slip to ensure correct product arrived.
  • Create, print, and provide receiving labels for inbound product to warehouse associate before storage.
  • Identify damaged goods and work with the customer to correct, segregate and report problems accordingly.
  • Assist in moving product to appropriate storage areas as necessary.
  • Enter receiving information into the Warehouse Management System and forward necessary information to Warehouse personnel.
  • Assist in the building and execution of cycle count files.
  • Validate discrepancies from the Cycle Counts and communicate any true variances to customer for validation.
  • Maintain cycle count data results and follows the Cycle Count schedule to ensure 100% inventory cycle counts are completed annually.

Responsible for the effective and timely completion of shipping functions.

  • Prepare shipments for picking and staging.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of shipping materials including boxes, packing materials, and labels.
  • Prepare packing lists to be placed on the last pallet of the outbound load.
  • Assist in verifying that outgoing orders and shipments picked are complete and correct.
  • Prepare BOLs for delivery personnel.
  • Identify, track, and resolve shipping errors, problems, or delays.

Ensure that shipping and receiving functions are completed in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Follow safety and quality standards.
  • Meet deadlines.

Establish and maintain good communication, coordination and working relations with Company personnel and with management.

  • Coordinate with operations team and warehouse personnel to ensure proper product storage and labeling.
  • Complete documents, reports, and records accurately and timely.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns. Identifies problems and provides suggestions.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years shipping, receiving, and inventory control experience
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well independently or with a team
  • Must be at least 18 years
  • All candidates are required to undergo pre-employment drug screen and background checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business, logistics, or a related field
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles
  • Previous forklift operation and warehousing experience

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work for short periods in refrigerated and frozen environments (as low as -112°F)
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend and kneel
  • Must occasionally push, pull, move, carry or lift up to 50 pounds.
