Job Summary:
The licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (also known as a respiratory therapist) performs under direct supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Manager and is delegated an assignment by the supervisor to achieve quality patient care and expected productivity during a routineworkflow experience. The therapist shall implement all basic and advanced procedures (non-invasive and invasive) as ordered by the physician in a systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team as evidenced by documentation in the patient care record, direct observation by the supervisor and patient evaluation of care. The therapist is ultimately accountable to the respiratory supervisor and department director. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity to cultural and religious beliefs of patients, visitors and staff. Demonstrates knowledge and skills for the operation, management and re-processing of all respiratory equipment.
