POSITION: MTSS/Testing Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid teacher license commensurate with Mississippi Department of Education requirements.
  • License or enrollment in educational leadership degree program.
  • Good physical condition with ability to lift 10 pounds
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Administrator

JOB GOAL:
Help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens.
Support teachers, students and parents in the student learning/student intervention process.
Assist the principal in providing a positive school climate that is conducive to learning.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. General

a. Maintains professional work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and scheduling of time.
b. Uses effective oral and written expression.
c. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
d. Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal law.
e. Adheres to all district policies and procedures for purchasing and handling of money and equipment.
f. Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students.
g. Assists the principal in developing programs to include teacher, student, parents, and community input into the decision making process.

2. Programming
  1. Oversee the high school testing program and makes recommendations to the administration to ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations.
  2. Designs and implements the designated programs so that they are consistent with the total educational philosophy of the district.
  3. Coordinate activities and timelines relative to the referral to placement process
  4. Accounts for all test materials received and secures all test materials in a locked facility and ensures that the security of test materials and the integrity of the Mississippi Statewide Assessment System are maintained at all times
  5. Assure that the high school establishes procedures to ensure that all stakeholders comply with the test publisher guidelines
  6. Ensure that each high school test administrators and proctors are trained in the implementation of testing procedures and accommodations, including those used with students with disabilities and students identified as limited English proficient
  7. Report all testing irregularities to the building Principal and the Assistant Superintendent.
  8. Coordinates the testing days, testing facilities, and testing staff.
  9. Works in coordination with other teachers in planning and integrating to enhance student learning.
  10. Assists with the ongoing curriculum revision process.
  11. Reviews student performance, designs instructional intervention and/or strategy, assigns responsibilities for implementation, and develops a follow-up plan.
3. Student Management
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct as prescribed by board policy, administrative procedures, the student handbook, and program guidelines.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior consistent with the school program.
4. Student Evaluation
  • Assists in conducting group and individual teacher conferences.
  • Communicates student performance and progress to parents.

5. Public Relations
  1. Upholds and enforces board policy, administrative procedures, school rules and regulations, and is supportive of them to the public.
  2. Strives to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.
  3. Maintains positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community.
  4. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  5. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other employees, departments, and schools.
  6. Assists in providing information to community groups and parents concerning educational programs.
6. Record Keeping
  1. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  2. Ensures that each student has necessary evaluation records on file.
  3. Meets all reporting requirements for school, district, state, federal and related agencies.
  4. Provides accurate and timely reports as requested.
  5. Fulfills responsibilities as directed.
7. Professional Growth
  1. Maintains documentation in order to receive licensure renewal.
  2. Continues professional growth through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development to include attendance at workshops and conferences, membership in professional organizations, reading professional literature, and the exchange of ideas.
  3. Attends and participates in faculty meetings, parent conferences, district meetings, and interdisciplinary planning as required.


JOB DESCRIPTION: Teach classes in accordance with all policies and procedures as stated in Ocean Springs School Board Policy.

SALARY: Commensurate with the Ocean Springs salary schedule for certified positions for the 2026-2027 school year.

Any person desiring to transfer within the system must adhere to School Board Policy GBE.
