Lead Field Service Engineer

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Field Service Lead to oversee and support a team of field service technicians performing startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical equipment at customer sites. This is a working lead role, combining hands-on field work with day-to-day leadership of approximately 8 technicians across 2–6 active sites

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate startup and commissioning activities for electrical equipment across multiple customer sites
  • Provide daily supervision, coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to field service technicians
  • Serve as the technical lead for advanced troubleshooting and product support
  • Work on job sites to complete commissioning, resolve punch list items, and ensure proper closeout
  • Identify project risks and escalate issues to management as needed
  • Coordinate with project managers and internal teams to ensure scope alignment and timely deliverables
  • Ensure technicians have proper tools, materials, and documentation to perform work safely and efficiently
  • Participate in or lead training, factory witness tests, and shop testing as required
  • Report product or quality concerns and collaborate with engineering and production teams
  • Support scheduling and deployment of field resources with field service leadership
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide daily direction, coaching, and technical support to field service technicians

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent hands-on experience in power distribution systems
  • 2+ years of field service experience, with a focus on startup and commissioning of electrical equipment
  • Experience with switchgear, electrical distribution systems, and control systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures involving multiple power sources
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior lead or supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with advanced communication protocols and networking concepts

$49.50/hr to $60.50/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
