Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities in a UL 508A–certified electrical panel shop. This role ensures electrical control panels are built safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UL 508A, NEC, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. The supervisor leads panel shop personnel, coordinates workflow, maintains inspection readiness, and drives continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Scheduling

• Supervise daily panel shop production including layout, wiring, assembly, labeling, and testing of industrial control panels.
• Assign and prioritize work to meet production schedules and UL requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering to resolve drawing issues, revisions, SCCR requirements, and approved substitutions.
• Ensure materials and components are correct, approved, and available prior to build.
• Monitor labor hours, progress, and delivery commitments.

UL 508A Compliance & Inspection Readiness

• Ensure all panel builds comply with UL 508A, NEC, and internal UL procedures.
• Verify proper use of UL-listed or UL-recognized components per BOM and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with conductor sizing, torque, grounding, and labeling requirements.
• Maintain audit readiness and support UL inspections.
• Maintain documentation, traceability, and build records.

Quality Control

• Conduct in-process and final inspections for workmanship and compliance.
• Correct non-conformances and manage rework and corrective actions.
• Enforce standard work instructions and quality expectations.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
• Ensure proper PPE use and electrical safety practices.
• Promote housekeeping, organization, and 5S principles.
• Participate in incident investigations and safety meetings.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, train, and mentor panel builders and electricians.
• Provide performance feedback and participate in evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Foster accountability, teamwork, and a quality-driven culture.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 5+ years experience in an electrical panel shop environment.
• Experience in a UL 508A-certified shop strongly preferred.
• Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Technical Skills

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Working knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and industrial control panel construction.
• Familiarity with enclosure ratings, and UL inspection requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.

Working Conditions

Panel shop manufacturing environment with exposure to electrical components, hand and power tools. Requires standing, lifting, and occasional overtime. PPE required.
