Role Description:

The Electrical Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling IPVs and other electromechanical components using assembly drawings and work instructions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, motivated team player with a genuine interest in marine robotics and electro-mechanical systems.

This role will report to Director of Operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assembly, testing, and installation of mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Assemble small components onto PCBs.
  • Use various assembly and testing tools to build sub-systems based on instructions
  • Follow established assembly instructions and interface with engineers to provide feedback on improvements
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics
  • Work along-side the team to install sub-systems into the vehicle
  • Strip, prep, and clean underwater cables
  • Solder wires to PCBs
  • Crimp electrical connections and install connectors to modules
  • Wire-to-wire splicing
  • Terminate and crimp RF connections
  • Pot electrical assemblies in epoxy or polyurethane at various mix ratios
  • Oil compensate motor and sensor assemblies
  • Use existing testing scripts to QC assemblies
  • Maintain a clean work area and is responsible for designated tools

Role Requirements:

  • IPC or NASA solder certification
  • Experience assembling small components onto PCB boards with solder paste and stencil
  • Capable of assembling electronic components and perform hand solder or surface mount component reflowing
  • Ability to work independently and be an effective team player
  • Ability to differentiate between colors, have good depth perception, and peripheral vision
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • HS Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of work experience and education
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English with excellent understanding
  • Ability to handle active work including lifting, bending, walking and standing for considerable lengths of time
  • Possess a valid Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) or successfully pass the requirements to obtain one
  • Successfully pass drug test, background check, and motor vehicle screening
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance

Role Preferences:

  • Experience in undersea electronics and electromechanical assemblies
  • Strong hands-on skills using a wide range of tools and production equipment
  • Experience using Molex crimp tools
  • General mechanical assembly skills
  • Experience with cable splices, epoxy/polyurethane potting materials, submersible electronics
  • General interest in marine robotics and systems
