Metro Logics, Inc. (Metro) is a privately owned medical logistics service company located in Olive Branch, MS, with additional facilities in Nevada and Utah. We provide temperature-sensitive storage, warehousing and rapid distribution services for perishable foods, pharmaceutical products and medical devices and supplies. Metro manages highly regulated, temperature controlled and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) compliant warehouse space.
About the role
The Operations Manager assists the General Manager in total facility supervision. The Operations Manager helps plan, organize, and direct facility activities ensuring that warehouse operations comply with established procedures and policies. Other responsibilities include managing warehouse staff, procuring supplies and equipment, liaising with customers, and directing maintenance projects and procedures. Metro is a 24 hours / 7 days a week emergency response customer service organization, and as such, the Facility Operations Manager must be available as required during this timeframe.

Responsibilities
Assist in daily supervision of warehouse activity and maintenance:
- Ensure that shipments and deliveries are efficiently processed and accurately recorded in Metro's warehouse management system
- Ensure that all inventory is properly stored
- Oversee cycle counts and annual inventory exercises with a goal of 100% inventory accuracy
- Ensure that warehouse operations comply with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, safety regulations, and codes
- Liaise with the Quality Department to ensure compliance with SOPs and resolve related deviations
- Conduct periodic inspections of the facility, assess problems and opportunities, and manage resolution, as needed
- Work with Maintenance Department to ensure that the facility is clean, well maintained, and in good repair
- Make recommendations for equipment purchases and capital improvements
- Ensure that equipment and warehouse machinery are in safe operating condition
- Keep senior management well informed of area activities and issues
Supervise warehouse and inventory employees, ensuring optimal performance:
- Provide leadership to warehouse and inventory control employees through effective objective setting, delegation, communication, and regular performance reviews
- Coordinate daily warehouse workflow
- Conduct regular meetings to ensure that employees are well informed about warehouse activity and changes in policies and procedures
- Identify, develop, and implement training programs, as appropriate
- Work with the Human Resources Department and General Manager to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate
- Coordinate and oversee the facility's part-time warehouse personnel who are trained monthly for on- call urgent response deployment
Establish and maintain professional business relations with customers, vendors, suppliers, and shippers:
- Work daily with customer's onsite representatives maintaining a healthy working relationship
- Develop and maintain productive business relations with vendors, suppliers, and shippers
- Build positive relationships and promote goodwill while representing the Company with integrity and professionalism.
Qualifications and Relevant Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent, plus at least 5 years of operations management and supervisory experience required
- Associates degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration is preferred; relevant experience and/ or advanced training, or an equivalent combination thereof will be considered
- Working knowledge of cGMP framework within in a regulated industry preferred
- Other industry certifications, such as Hazmat, Osha, etc. preferred
Skills
- Ability to lead, manage, and hold direct reports accountable while fostering a positive work environment
- Broad understanding of facility equipment and systems, including HVAC, cold storage, power supply, material handling equipment, temperature monitoring systems, etc.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook)
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems
- Strong problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical abilities and interpersonal skills
Physical Activities and Working Conditions
- Exposure to seasonal outdoor elements, ambient and refrigerated/frozen storage environments (as low as -80°C)
- Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend and kneel
- Must occasionally push, pull, move, carry or lift up to 50 pounds
- Occasional out-of-town travel
