Maintenance/Grounds Technician I

This position is located at the State Veterans Home at Tradition in Biloxi, Mississippi and is a time-limited (NS-14) appointment. The Maintenance/Grounds Technician I is a first-level vocational position responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance and groundskeeping tasks that can be learned through short-term, on-the-job training. Duties may include collecting and disposing of litter, moving materials and supplies, and assisting with general facility and grounds upkeep. The position requires the use of basic hand tools and operation of small equipment such as mowers, string trimmers, and light fleet vehicles, including Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs). Work at this level is typically routine in nature, with tasks assigned and performed under direct supervision. The incumbent is expected to follow established procedures while maintaining a safe and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
