Job Description Job Description Position Title: Construction Superintendent (Federal Projects)Location: Gulfport, Mississippi (Gulf Coast Region)Position Type: Full-Time / PermanentPosition SummaryThe Construction Superintendent is responsible for the overall on-site supervision, coordination, and execution of federal construction projects, including work performed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), NASA, NAVFAC, and other federal agencies. This position ensures that all field operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with contract documents, federal regulations, and quality control standards.The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader and is accountable for maintaining schedule, quality, safety, and productivity while coordinating subcontractors, field staff, and government stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide full-time, on-site supervision of construction activities from mobilization through project closeoutPlan, coordinate, and manage daily field operations , subcontractors, and self-performed workEnsure strict compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and federal standards (USACE, NAVFAC, NASA, etc.)Prepare and submit daily production reports , field logs, and documentation in accordance with USACE/NAVFAC requirementsCoordinate closely with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager (QCM), and Safety Officer (SSHO)Enforce and maintain compliance with EM 385-1-1 safety standards and OSHA requirementsLead and participate in Three-Phase Control System (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-Up meetings)Monitor project schedule and progress; implement recovery plans as needed to maintain milestonesCoordinate inspections, testing, and government acceptance activitiesManage site logistics, material deliveries, equipment utilization, and workforce productivityMaintain clear communication with government representatives (COR, QA, inspectors)Ensure proper implementation of Quality Control Plans (QCP) and support QCM documentation effortsOversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirementsSupport project closeout including punch list completion, as-builts, and final documentationMinimum Qualifications (Required)5–10 years of verifiable experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial or federal projectsCurrent OSHA 30 Certification (Required)Ability to pass NCIC background check (Required)Demonstrated experience with USACE, NAVFAC, NASA, or other federal construction projectsStrong knowledge of:USACE daily production reportsQuality Control reporting requirementsFederal construction standards and specificationsProficiency in:Adobe Acrobat ProMicrosoft Word and ExcelProven ability to manage multiple trades and maintain project schedule in active/occupied or mission-critical environmentsStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsUSACE Construction Quality Management (CQM) CertificationExperience working in secure or controlled federal facilitiesFamiliarity with:Primavera P6 schedules (basic understanding)PROCORE or similar construction management softwareExperience in healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical facility constructionPrior experience serving in a “triple-hat” role (Superintendent/QCM/SSHO) is a plusWork Environment & Physical RequirementsWork is performed primarily on active construction sites, which may include:Exposure to weather conditions typical of the Gulf Coast regionActive/occupied federal facilities requiring strict adherence to safety and operational protocolsAbility to:Walk, stand, climb, and lift as required on construction sitesWork extended hours, including weekends, as needed to meet project schedulesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceBenefits package including:Health insurancePaid time offRetirement options (if applicable)Opportunity to work on high-profile federal projects across the Gulf Coast regionEqual Opportunity EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status.Company Description Birmingham Industrial Construction, LLC is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Company with its Corporate office in Columbiana, Alabama and Gulf Coast branch office in Gulfport, MS.
