School Cafeteria Worker

Pay:

Pascagoula-Gautier School District (PGSD): $9.40/hour
Jackson County School District (JCSD): $10.25/hour (Paid Bi-Weekly)

Location: Jackson County, MS

Position Summary:

The School Cafeteria Worker assists with preparing and serving nutritious meals to students while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining area. This position works closely with cafeteria staff to ensure efficient meal service and compliance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation: Assist with preparing food items, portioning meals, and setting up serving lines.

Meal Service: Serve breakfast and lunch to students while providing friendly and courteous customer service.

Cleaning & Sanitation: Wash dishes, clean kitchen equipment, dining areas, and workstations while following sanitation guidelines.

Stocking: Restock food, supplies, and utensils as needed throughout meal service.

Food Safety: Follow proper food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures.

Team Support: Work cooperatively with cafeteria staff to ensure daily operations run smoothly.

Compliance: Adhere to all school district policies, health department regulations, and food safety standards.

Requirements

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.

Communication Skills: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively with staff and students.

Reliability: Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.

Organization: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness.

Customer Service: Friendly and professional attitude when interacting with students and staff.

Background Check: A background check is required prior to employment. Applicants are responsible for paying the required background check fee.

Experience: Previous food service, cafeteria, restaurant, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
