You will provide paralegal services and assistance to four of eight Administrative Law Judges. You will substantively edit judicial opinions to ensure they are well written and reasoned. Attend motion, compensability, and merit hearings and draft and/or edit orders based on the evidence entered at the hearings. Conduct legal research and draft proposed orders, correspondence, and other legal documents as directed by the Administrative Law Judges. Conduct legal research using Westlaw and resources available in the library on site. Abstract medical records and other documents and/or exhibits in preparation for the drafting of judicial opinions. Read and provide an abstract of depositions, medical records, and other exhibits. Review orders from the Administrative Law Judges, the Full Commission, Court of Appeals, and MS Supreme Court. Coordinate with the Administrative Law Judges and other legal staff to ensure that the Administrative Law Judges' opinions are timely rendered, their dockets are well managed to guarantee case flow, and the policies and procedures of the agency are promptly performed.

You will need to be able to assist with the workload of four out of eight Administrative Law Judges. You will need to have self-management skills, accountability, self-development, technical proficiency, workflow management, problem solving, and decision making skills. You need to have excellent research and writing skills and understand legal terminology. Paralegal Certification may be required. Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 5+ years of experience in a legal environment and may also require a paralegal certification.
